Review of www.SellOldPhone.co.uk
What they say: “Selloldphone provides an easy online process for consumers to sell their unused mobile phone(s). They accept any mobile phone and guarantee you will receive payment within 7 days. Even if there is no cash value in your phone listed with the mobile recycling Recycle symbol they will still recycle them for you. That is how you do your bit for the environment!”
Selloldphone offer a freepost service and payment is normally made within 48 hours. Their sister company greenertomorrow.org.uk provide free recycling bins to schools to help enable them to raise funds for their chosen causes and also work closely with cancer fighting organizations. They also link to wheretorecycle.co.uk who provide more links to more mobile phone recycling websites.
How to sell your phone with SellOldPhone
1. Visit the Sell Old Phone site and click on the “Sell Now” tab on the menu.
2. From here you will be able to select the manufacturer of your mobile phone. You can either click on the associated image for your make of mobile phone or do a search using the inbuilt search box. You then choose the model of your mobile phone as well. Once you have selected your make and model you will then have the option of choosing of whether it’s a working or non-working phone and shown a price for each type. If you are happy with the price click to add it to the cart and click checkout or continue if you have more than one mobile phone to sell.
3. If you see a recycling logo instead of a price value for the phone it means Sell Old Phone will not purchase the phone from you but will still take it to be recycled. They will still send a freepost envelope for you to send it in to them for free. If you are happy with the price offered for your phone click checkout and the next page is a confirmation page where you can choose how many of the mobile phones you are selling. For just one phone just leave it as is and click on “confirm order”. From here you will just need to create an account on the site and give them your details such as name and address and agree with the sites terms & conditions.
4. Once you have entered all your details and registered with the site you will be given a freepost address to send your phone to. You can also request a freepost envelope. I would suggest if you are sending in your phone to ensure it’s in a well padded envelope or jiffy bag and send it via Royal Mails special recorded delivery service. This insures your package up to £500 of loss.
5. Sell Old Phone will receive your phone, check it and then email you confirmation that it’s working and that they will be sending you a cheque for the amount shown on site. You will then normally receive your payment by cheque within 2 – 3 days but no longer than 7 days.
Sell Old Phone have quite competitive prices offered for mobile phones. I have checked how much I can get for my Nokia e65 and was offered around £1.50 more than their main competitors.

This site was rubbish, dont use it. I sent in a perfectly good working phone, waited for a long time, to then get sent a payment half of what they had promised. They said I hadnt included my charger (which I wasn't asked to anywhere!) and that there was a scratch across the screen, my phone was in perfect condition. Have had no problems with other companies, definately dont use this one!!
I have had a very bad experience with SellOldPhone. They didn't send my cheque for my 2 working phones until over 2.5 weeks after they had received them – and only after I chased them about 3 times. The envelope they sent me was also too small to fit the chargers in as well as the phones, and because of this they didn't send me the full amount for my phones. Make sure you read the small printed terms & conditions – you have to send your chargers with the phones to get full payment which wasn't clear until trawling through that. I then called them about this and after a very long discussion they agreed that I could send my chargers in separately and they would reimburse me the full amount, but that was over a week ago now and I haven't heard a peep from them since. I have tried to contact them by email but to no avail so far so I guess another phone call is in order! Really frustrating. Wish I'd just gone somewhere else from the start.
More reviews for this website i have found in about 2 mins of searching in google i will NOT be using this site i would stick with mazuma or mopay as this company is ripping people of by the thousands

STEER CLEAR OF THIS WEBSITE – They are a rip off company.
Firstly – Payment is not received within 7 days at all – more like 2 weeks.
I submitted two mobile phones to them three weeks ago, and was quoted £30 for the value. I went through the order process and sent the phones off to the address that was listed. I received an email saying that my order had been received and that payment was in processing and would be sent out.
At nowhere during the order process was there any mention of sending in chargers with the phones. I received a cheque last week for £10 less than quoted at order stage, as the chargers had not been sent with the phones. I wish to add once more, that at NO POINT is the charger or battery asked for and the consumer is none the wiser.
I emailed the company, as funnily enough, there is no contact telephone number for them on their website and received an email back saying that it is stated in the terms and conditions, a tiny link at the bottom of the home page, not mentioned anywhere in the order process.
Steer clear of this company and use a reputable one like mazuma or envirophone….. so wish i had
@ Gareth Karpinski Hi sorry to hear of your problems. SellOldPhone have a telephone number clearly written on the banner above. And there terms do clearly state;
“# Working is defined as:
# Full working order including a battery, battery cover and charger ”
It’s likely that where you never sent in your chargers they could not then give you full working value and that’s why you only got a cheque for a smaller amount than originally quoted.
You say steer clear of them and use someone else. But SellOldPhone still pay the most money compared to someone like Envirofone or Mazuma for example. And others have successfully got good money for their old mobile phone by selling it to SellOldPhone.
Not sticking up for them but your argument does seem a little fickle? Maybe you could have got a better deal but you should learn from no on to read all the t’s&c’s so you know what to fully expect.
Regards.
You can’t complain if you have bothered to read the T&C’s – they are there for a reason!
