Review of mobile phone recycling service Simply Drop™
Well the Royal mail have officially jumped on the bandwagon and have launched their own mobile phone recycling service and website that you can use to recycle your old mobile phones and more to for cash! Here is the lowdown and review.
Simply Drop™ – The Queen’s mobile phone recycling service!
With Simply Drop™ you can get cash for recycling Mobile Phones, Digital Cameras or Inkjet Cartridge toners and Apple iPod’s or other MP3 Players. Simply Drop have a very extensive list of iPods they list that they accept and recycle for cash from you. And the same applies for Digital Cameras from companies like Archos, Creative, Dell, iitronics, iRiver, Phillips, Samsung, Samdisk, Sony, Zen and more. And Digial Camera manufacturers from Canon to Fuji to Kodak to Nikon to Polaroid to Sony and more.
So what you say? Well this adds more sites to the list you can use to sell and recycle all these types of things with for cash. It adds another recycler that are price comparable by using our Mobile Phone Recyling Price Comparison Tool above. Make sure you use it to search for your mobile phone model first and see the prices that Simply Drop™ offer compared to the other mobile phone recycling sites. You’ll see they are offering some very high prices. This is because they are new on the block and want to stay on top of the competition. A lot of people are going with Simply Drop™ because of these prices offered and that they feel secure it being directly a Royal Mail company. And not just for mobile phones either!
What they say? “Simply Drop™ is a new scheme from Royal Mail to encourage consumers to recycle unwanted mobile phones. Simply Drop, a Royal Mail initiative in partnership with Recycle for London, allows consumers to recycle their unwanted mobiles in exchange for cash or a charity donation to one of five charities, including Barnardo’s, Royal Mail’s chosen charity. To recycle an item with the new Simply Drop scheme, consumers need to visit Simply Drop, select the make and model of their handset from a drop-down menu, and a value will be given. A prepaid, degradable bag will be then be issued to the individual for safe postage of their item. Bags can also be dropped off at any London Post Office branch. Alternatively, Londoners can look out for one of the 3.1 million Simply Drop bags being delivered to households in the capital. “
Okay so being Royal Mail this is as you’d expect then the Queen’s mobile phone recycling service. As such you can expect people to go with them. Especially when it comes to how much they are willing to pay for used or broken mobile phones and electrical products. At the end of the day that’s all it comes down to, how much money is being offered. But people do take these other things into consideration. It’s probably why, coupled with that it’s run in conjunction with “Recycle for London” that it’s doing so well so far. That and as said it being a site you can compare using our Price Comparison Tool above.
Why use Royal Mails Simply Drop™? To recycle your mobile phone or old MP3 players or Apple iPods. Digital Cameras or Ink Toners for cash. To help the Environment of London as well. It’s estimated people replace their mobile every 12 – 18 months, leaving up to 100 million going left unused in the UK. If discarded to landfill it can have detrimental effects for future generations and can leak poisonous chemicals into the earth for thousands of years.
How to use Simply Drop™? Depending on what you want to sell and recycle. Your Mobile / iPhone /BlackBerry. MP3 Player / iPod or Digital Camera. Just visit the Simply Drop site for a simple intuative design. Choose what you want to recycle from the drop down list and narrow it down to the make and model. Select working or non-working and click on ‘Preview’ for the price offered. Then simply click ‘Add now’ to add it to a basket. Click on ‘Next’ to request your free Envelope. You can add more bags if you want but simply click ‘Next’ again to fill in your Name & Address details. From here you can view the Terms & Conditions which we advise you to do. They are, as you might imagine being Royal Mail, quite well laid out and pretty much cover everything. You could get away with not reading them but it’s always best to have a quick skim at least.
When you’re done filling in your details and have ticked the T&C’s. Click ‘Next’ again to choose how you want to recieve your payment. Simply Drop™ have about 4 methods. Via a PayPal payment or receive a text message take it to the post office to collect cash. Or a Postal Order sent through the mail. Or you can donate cash to 1 of five Charities. Only all of it though and not a certain percentage of it unlike Envirofone and Mazuma Mobile allow you to do. I feel more people would donate if they could donate anything from 1-100% of the cash. Right??
Once you’ve decided and clicked ‘Next’ to continue you’ll see a page explaining when and how they’ll pay you and be given a confirmation number. Simply Drop™ will mail you a Free Post envelope. It’s important that you write that number on your Simply Drop™ envelope that contains your devices. You will will also recieve a confirmation email of this as well. From here make sure you check out their ‘How Do I Send?’ page for more important information about sending in your things to them.
So what happens now? Simply Drop™ will mail you the Free Post envelope. Simply place your gadgets inside and send them back to them through the normal post. You can insure it if you want. And in fact. It is advisable to do so and use Recorded Delivery for the more expensive things. You can track your items on the Royal Mail site using your reference number. Simply Drop™ don’t charge for postage, handling or any transaction fees, but if your device(s) are of value, they recommend you take the extra step of paying to track and insure your package using Special Delivery guaranteed service, available at all Post Offices®. However you should be alright. You are dealing with Royal Mail after all, right?
Overal the whole process to sell your mobile to Simply Drop™ is very easy. And they are being used more and more I’m noticing by people through our Price Comparison Tool above. Probably because of the prices they are paying and that, again, they are Royal Mail so people trust them.
